Chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR T) therapy is a new type of cancer treatment in which the patient’s T-lymphocyte white blood cells (T-cells) are removed, genetically altered to make them more efficient at recognising and killing specific cancer cells, and then re-infused back into the patient to destroy the cancer cells.
